A quality dry red wine from the controlled designation of origin of Baranja Vineyards bottled in 0.75 liter bottles and sealed with a screw cap.
Exposition: Karanačka planina (mountain). All vineyards on that exposition were planted in 2004. Rows are on slopes and oriented North/South at altitude of 200 to 220 metres. Soil is degraded chernozem on loess with a deep A horizon. Between rows the grass was planted.
Harvest and Growth Cycle of Grapevines
Grapes were harvested from September 20 to 30, 2010. A vegetative cycle of grapevines was characterized with a lot of rains in spring and dry and long intervals of hot and dry weather in summer. During the harvest time again we had significant amount of rain.
After harvest was done by hand, fermentation together with maceration in Inox fermentation vats lasted for 8 to 12 days, then malolactic fermentation in Inox fermentation tanks. After blending and selection, the ageing in large barrels and Inox tanks continued for 8 to 12 months.
Wine was aged in Inox tanks and after 3 months of ageing bottled in 0.75 liter bottles and sealed with screw cap. After bottling wine was matured for another month.
It can be enjoyed now or kept for 3 years.
Wine has very deep ruby colour. On the nose there are scents of blackberry fruit with hints of cacao. The wine is harmonious, powerful, with smooth yet ripe tannins, savory and well balanced. It is wonderfully ripe, smooth and well-balanced wine.
To be served at 18 degrees Celsius. Matching food includes hot appetizers with meat sauces, cold cuts, and cheeses as well as roasted meat. Alcohol is 12.3%.
