Harvest and Growth Cycle of Grapevines
Grapes were harvested from September 20 to 30, 2009. A vegetative cycle of grapevines was characterized by the excellent schedule of rains in spring and dry and hot summer which resulted in the extraordinary quality of the harvested grapes.
After harvest was done by hand, best grapes were selected. Fermentation together with maceration in Inox fermentation vats lasted for 12 days, thereafter pressing and continuation of malolactic fermentation continued in large Slavonian oak barrels. After blending and selection of the best young wines, the ageing in large barrels continued for 24 months.
Wine was aged in big wooden barrels and thereafter bottled in 0.75 liter bottles and sealed with a natural cork. After bottling it spend 6 months in the bottle.
It can be enjoyed now or kept. The wine shall continue its development in the bottle for minimum 10 years.
This is powerful, warm and modern wine. Wine is clear and dense with dark ruby colour. A complex and beautiful bouquet of ripe raspberries, cranberries and plums dominate. Mouthful is pleasant, rounded with the nice tannin structure. On the palate wine is clean, soft and pleasantly bitter, with great acidity, ripe and smooth tannins, harmonious with a long finish. To be served at 18 degrees Celsius. Matching food includes game, roasted meat and ripe cheeses. Alcohol is 16.5%.
